Aldeburgh Seafront Robber Charged

A man has been charged following a robbery from an ice cream van on Aldeburgh seafront.

Police were called at around 3pm on Saturday (20th June) after reports that a vendor had been threatened by another man. It is alleged the suspect damaged the victim's phone before stealing a quantity of cash and leaving the scene.

The vendor suffered a minor injury to his arm and was left shaken by the incident.

Following enquiries, a 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Dillon Sayers, of Carlton Road, Saxmundham, has since been charged with robbery, criminal damage, possession of a knife or blade in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, possession of a Class A drug, namely cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

He appeared before magistrates and was remanded in custody ahead of a future hearing at Ipswich Crown Court.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information relating to the incident to contact East Suffolk CID.
