Southwold celebration planned as ambulances prepare for Ukraine journey

A community celebration is being held in Southwold ahead of the latest convoy of ambulances and medical aid heading to Ukraine.

The "Send Off the Ambulances to Ukraine" event takes place at Old Hall Southwold, giving supporters the opportunity to celebrate the success of the Help2Ukraine Suffolk project before the vehicles begin their journey.

The volunteer-led charity initiative is based in Southwold and works to purchase decommissioned NHS ambulances, fill them with essential medical supplies and drive them directly to Lviv in western Ukraine.

Fundraising efforts from across the local community have helped support the project, including the Southwold Fun Dog Show, which raised £6,000 towards the cause.

Visitors attending the send-off event will be able to enjoy music from the Black Deek Band, along with food and refreshments.

Organisers say this evening (Thursday 4th June) at 6pmis an opportunity to recognise the efforts of volunteers, fundraisers and supporters who have helped make the latest mission possible. The celebration is being held at Old Hall Southwold, Cafe and Walks.

The ambulances are due to begin their journey to Ukraine the following day, carrying much-needed vehicles and supplies for communities affected by the ongoing conflict.

Those wishing to support the project can continue to donate through the Help2Ukraine Suffolk fundraising campaign.
