Drivers in the Leiston area are being advised to plan ahead as a series of road closures and diversions linked to Sizewell C construction work are set to affect journeys in the coming weeks.
The first overnight closures will affect the B1122 Abbey Road route between Leiston Abbey and south of Rowley Mews, alongside Lover’s Lane between Abbey Road and the Leiston recycling centre.
Further overnight work is planned on sections of Abbey Road between Potter’s Street and Eastbridge Road, along with the western end of Eastbridge Road.
Diversions will be in place, including routes using the A12, A1094 and B1069, while traffic management measures are also planned around Eastbridge and Theberton to help traffic flow.
Several other roads around Leiston are already affected by ongoing work. Abbey Lane remains closed until early summer next year for construction of the new railway line, while Buckleswood Road and Buckleswood Lane are also subject to temporary restrictions linked to railway works.
Moat Road is also due to close for an extended period as part of work associated with the Sizewell Link Road.
The changes are likely to affect local journeys in Leiston and surrounding areas, with motorists being advised to allow extra time and check routes before travelling.
