A new community-led festival celebrating Lowestoft’s people, businesses and organisations has officially been launched.
The project, called On the Edge, was unveiled at a special event held at The Mayfly café, where representatives from community groups, councils and businesses gathered to hear plans for the festival.
Organised by the Lowestoft community group Use Your Voice, the festival is planned to run across the town from 12th to 20th September.
Organisers say the aim is to highlight Lowestoft’s creativity, community spirit and future opportunities, while encouraging groups and businesses to showcase what they do.
The launch included presentations and discussions focused on ideas, partnerships and ways organisations can get involved.
The first confirmed event will be a special performance at The Seagull Theatre celebrating Buffalo Bill Cody’s visit to Lowestoft in 1903. An accompanying exhibition is also planned at the Old Parcels Office at Lowestoft Railway Station.
Organisers are now encouraging more community groups, businesses and organisations across Lowestoft to take part in the festival.
