Lowestoft’s new Gull Wing bridge has scooped a top industry award.
Recognising creativity, teamwork and engineering excellence behind the project - the judges said it was ‘a great example of a challenging project that has embraced the opportunities to innovate and create a landmark bridge.’
Other comments for judges included:
“A challenging engineering design only achieved by collaboration with all parties, a real showpiece of engineering.”
“High level engineering.”
“An interesting design that provides a landmark bridge.”
Gull Wing won the prestigious 2025 Bridges Design and Construction Award for projects over £10 million - and in doing so - it was a Suffolk victory over Norfolk - as Gull Wing beat Yarmouth’s new Herring Bridge to claim top prize.
Suffolk County Council commissioned the project and East Suffolk One were at the official opening of the bridge, as well as being invited to see HRH The Princess Royal unveil a special plaque in November.
