Members of Halesworth Town Council have been briefed on an early-stage proposal for a major housing development to the south of the town.
Land promoter Gladman met councillors recently to present initial ideas for developing land on both sides of Walpole Road. Their first concept includes approximately 600 homes alongside associated open spaces. Gladman intends to seek outline planning permission for the site from East Suffolk Council.
The company is expected to share its emerging proposals with the public early in the New Year, most likely in January or February 2026, and will present its preliminary plans at consultation events.
The Town Council says it wants residents to be aware of this potential development at the earliest stage and is encouraging people to engage fully with Gladman’s consultation process when it begins.
A formal view from the Town Council will be requested at the appropriate point in the planning process, but this is not expected to be required until 2026 or 2027.
