Plans have been revealed for a new offshore windfarm operations base in Lowestoft, which could bring jobs and further investment to the area.
ScottishPower Renewables has unveiled initial designs for an £8 million facility at PowerPark on Trinity Road. The proposed development would be built on land previously occupied by RJ Pryce - close to Ness Point.
The three-storey building is intended to serve as an operations and maintenance base for the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm, subject to approval by East Suffolk Council.
The planned 5,000 square metre site is expected to accommodate around 100 staff, creating additional employment opportunities locally.
The design is similar in style to the company’s existing operations base for the East Anglia ONE windfarm, located nearby at the port of Lowestoft, which opened in 2019 and continues to operate.
Developers say the new facility would expand their presence in the town and support its role as a centre for the offshore energy industry in the region.
