A new Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed for Suffolk, with the change set to take place next year.
The King has approved the appointment of Mr Mark Pendlington as His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County of Suffolk. He will take up the role following the retirement of Clare, Countess of Euston, who steps down in April.
The Lord-Lieutenant is the monarch’s personal representative in the county, with duties including supporting the voluntary sector, encouraging civic pride and representing the Crown at official events.
Mr Pendlington brings extensive experience from across both the public and private sectors. His background includes work in industry, national and regional voluntary organisations, further and higher education, and economic development bodies, many with national and international reach.
He has led a wide range of initiatives designed to promote collaboration, boost enterprise and create opportunities for young people. His work has also focused on improving training and skills, supporting thriving communities and encouraging volunteering across different sectors.
The appointment marks a significant moment for Suffolk, with the Lord-Lieutenant playing an important role in recognising local achievement and supporting organisations across the county.
Further details about the formal handover and future engagements are expected closer to the transition date.
