A major investment will see the long-closed All Hallows Care Home near Bungay brought back into use — creating more than 50 local jobs.
Black Swan Care Group has announced the purchase of the site at Ditchingham, which will undergo a full refurbishment before reopening as a 42-bedroom home offering residential and dementia care.
The project represents a significant commitment to improving local care provision, with extensive work planned to modernise the building and facilities. Most bedrooms will be enlarged to include ensuite wetrooms, while new communal areas and safety systems will be installed to meet modern standards.
The home, which was originally part of the All Hallows Healthcare Trust, was last operated by NorseCare before its closure in 2023. It has remained empty since. Once complete, it will become Black Swan’s second care home in Suffolk and its 24th across the group.
Managing Director Tom Lyons said: “We’re thrilled to bring All Hallows back to life. There’s strong demand for quality residential care locally — our nearby home in Beccles has a waiting list — so this investment will really make a difference.”
The refurbishment work will begin shortly, with the goal of reopening in autumn 2026, subject to Care Quality Commission registration.
Black Swan Care Group says the revamped home will provide modern, dementia-friendly accommodation and employ more than 50 people across care, catering, domestic, maintenance, and management roles.
Once reopened, All Hallows should again play an important part in the Bungay area's community — offering high-quality care in a modern, comfortable setting.
