Train Changes for East Suffolk Line Work

Rail passengers in Lowestoft, Beccles, Saxmundham and across east Suffolk are being advised to plan ahead as engineering work brings changes to services on the East Suffolk Line.

Improvement work will mean buses replacing trains on parts of the route across several days.

For the first weekend of the works, buses will replace trains between Lowestoft and Ipswich. Passengers travelling to Beccles will need to use a dedicated shuttle service and change buses at Halesworth.

For the remainder of the works, trains will continue running between Lowestoft and Halesworth, while buses replace services between Halesworth and Ipswich.

Passengers at Brampton are also being advised that replacement buses will not stop there and should instead use the station help point for assistance.

The work includes refurbishment of track and new signalling equipment at Saxmundham, signalling improvements at Melton level crossing, new safety measures at Bealings level crossing, timber decking replacement at Beccles station and track maintenance between Westerfield and Woodbridge.

The improvements also form part of wider plans linked to future rail freight use for the Sizewell C project.

Passengers are being advised to check updated journey information before travelling.
