Lowestoft's Railway Station and Kensington Gardens has hosted a Holocaust Memorial event, bringing together members of the local community, students from nearby high schools and representatives from local councils.
One of the events was held at the Parcels Office at the train station and was organised by Lowestoft Town Council. Those attending took part in a reflective programme that included poems read by students and shared reflections, creating a quiet and respectful atmosphere.
Diana Cook from Generation 2 Generation was the keynote speaker, addressing those gathered and sharing her perspective as part of the memorial event. Generation 2 Generation works to educate younger generations about the Holocaust through personal stories and lived experiences.
The event formed part of wider Holocaust Memorial activities in the town, including at Kensington Gardens and aimed at remembrance, education and reflection. Holding the service at the railway station provided a prominent and accessible location for the community to come together.
Lowestoft Town Council thanked those who attended, including students and community representatives, for taking part in the memorial and contributing to a meaningful event of remembrance.
