A man has been arrested following a police foot chase in Lowestoft.
Officers attended an address on Woollaston Road to arrest a man who was wanted. He ran from police, leading officers on a chase through nearby residential gardens before being detained on Katwijk Way a short time later.
During the incident, PAVA spray was discharged and a taser was deployed. Police say this was done to resolve the situation safely.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including two counts of theft, assault on a police officer, possession of class A drugs and criminal damage.
He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has since been released on bail until early June while enquiries continue.
Meanwhile on Facebook - Lowestoft Police quipped about the 'Hot Fuzz-style' incident:
If you were caught up in yesterday morning’s slight police takeover of Katwijk Way in Lowestoft, complete with road closures and a dash of chaos , then please accept our apologies. We promise it wasn’t just for the exercise.
Lowestoft Police were looking for three males for various offences. One was spotted in the town centre and clearly fancied his chances, launching into some garden hopping Hot Fuzz style . Sadly for him, Lowestoft’s finest were not impressed and ended his London Marathon dream shortly after as you may have seen.
The other two (unconnected) were detained later that morning with far less drama and significantly fewer hurdles. Overall, a solid and productive morning’s work.
