A special event has been held in Huntingfield to commemorate victims of the Titanic disaster, with a focus on a local connection.
A special event was held in Huntingfield on Saturday (18th April) to commemorate victims of the Titanic disaster, with a focus on a local connection.
The event at Huntingfield Church included a service of commemoration and the unveiling of a memorial to Thomas Cupper Mudd, a 16-year-old resident of the village who died when the ship sank.
Visitors also had the opportunity to learn more about his life in the village and the reasons behind his journey to America.
Items on display included copies of postcards he sent to his mother before boarding the Titanic, offering a personal insight into his story.
The event also featured a themed afternoon tea inspired by the White Star Line.
Organisers said everyone was welcome to attend the afternoon of remembrance and reflection.
