Heartbreak in Beccles: Teenage boy's life lost in Quay tragedy
Emergency services were called to the scene around 7.30pm, after reports of a child struggling in the water.
Fire crews, police, paramedics and the coastguard were all sent to the scene at Beccles Quay on the River Waveney.
Witnesses have expressed shock and disbelief, describing the events as “heartbreaking” and “devastating.”
The quay, a popular spot for both locals and visitors, is known for its peaceful atmosphere, making this tragedy all the more difficult to comprehend. Local residents have come together in support of the grieving family, many offering kind words and gestures of solidarity.
After the incident, St Michael's church in the town, opened its doors to anyone affected by the evenings tragedy.

Authorities are urging the public to take extra precautions around the water, especially with young children, to prevent such tragedies in the future.
