Halesworth Town’s debut run in the FA Vase has come to an end at the third round stage, despite a committed and spirited display against Lymore Gardens.
Town grew into the match and produced an impressive second-half performance, pressing high and keeping sustained pressure on Lymore Gardens FC of north London as they chased a route back into the tie. However, despite their efforts, they were unable to find the breakthrough they needed in front of goal.
Although the result wasn’t the one they had hoped for, the club says the whole town — and supporters from further afield — are immensely proud of the players and management team. Their first appearance in the competition brought excitement, momentum and memorable moments for fans throughout the run.
A club statement thanked the squad and coaching staff for their efforts, saying they had delivered real enjoyment during their Vase campaign.
Attention now turns back to league duties for the coming weeks. Town will then resume knockout competition in February, when they take on Leiston St Margaret’s in the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Senior Cup.
