New figures show rail travel continuing to grow across the East Suffolk Lines, with every station reporting an increase in passengers over the past year.
The latest annual usage data, covering 2024–25, shows Lowestoft saw usage rise to 468,156, which is more than 40,000 more than last year.
Beccles, Halesworth and Saxmundham all made gains, with Saxmundham’s total rising to 176,536. Smaller rural halts saw boosts too, with Brampton up to 14,508. Oulton Broad South reached 60,488 passengers.
Further south, strong results continued at Woodbridge with 229,388 journeys recorded, and Melton rising to 89,082. Darsham and Wickham Market also saw steady year-on-year growth.
Ipswich is well out in front with 3,371,206 entries and exits, up from just over three million the previous year. Felixstowe climbed to 278,504. Nearby Trimley also recorded a sharp increase, reaching 57,066.
The statistics combine entries and exits at each of the 15 East Suffolk Lines stations and compare them with the previous year’s totals. While usage varies widely between large town hubs and smaller rural stops, the overall trend across the network points to increasing demand for local rail services.
