A 35-year-old man from Carlton Colville has been convicted of attempted murder after a violent knife attack on his partner.
A jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict; the defendant was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
Ryan Leggett, of Lowestoft Road, was found guilty at Ipswich Crown Court following a six-day trial. He had already admitted wounding with intent and threatening a person with a blade, but denied attempted murder.
The attack happened in the early hours when the victim, a woman in her 30s, returned home from work and found Leggett in bed with another man. Following an argument, he armed himself with knives and stabbed her multiple times while she lay on a bed.
She sustained eight stab wounds, including two to the chest that caused a fractured rib and a punctured lung. Another wound to the abdomen led to internal bleeding and liver damage. She was able to raise the alarm with a neighbour, and emergency services were called. Leggett later contacted police to hand himself in and was arrested the same day.
