Bungay Town Trust is appealing for local people to step forward and become feoffees to help manage its historic properties and support the town’s community.
The trust plays an important role in Bungay, overseeing the weekly market and maintaining key landmarks such as Castle Hills and the Butter Cross. It also provides almshouse accommodation on Outney Road and Staithe Close.
New feoffees are being sought to help continue this work, with a focus on protecting Bungay’s heritage while encouraging the town to thrive in the future.
Trustees say candidates do not need specific qualifications, but enthusiasm for Bungay and a strong commitment to promoting its best features are essential.
The role of a feoffee has a long history in Bungay, dating back centuries. Today, the trust continues to operate as a charity, ensuring the town’s important sites are preserved for future generations while supporting residents through its almshouse provision.
A spokesperson for Bungay Town Trust said: “We are looking for people who share our passion for Bungay, its history, and its future. Becoming a feoffee is an opportunity to make a difference and help the town thrive.”
Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to contact Bungay Town Trust directly for more details.
