Dunwich wildfire 'stable' as firefighters continue to tackle hot spots

The Dunwich wildfire remains stable, but firefighters are continuing to work around the clock as hot spots and the risk of reignition remain.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews have been working continuously to manage the fire and respond to hot spots as they appear.

The ground remains extremely hot, meaning there is still a risk of the fire reigniting.

People are being asked to continue staying away from the affected area to help keep routes clear for emergency services.

Despite the ongoing situation, community activities are continuing. The Dunwich Art Show opened to Dunwich residents this weekend as a morale boost, while the Fisherman's Hut is open in the beach car park.

Those behind the local response have praised the positive community spirit during what has been a difficult situation.

Fundraising appeals have also been launched to support recovery efforts following the wildfire.

Ae GoFundMe appeal organised through Dunwich St James' Church - says it will support Dunwich church and museum, National Trust Dunwich Heath, RSPB Minsmere, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and Westleton Village Hall Committee.
