East Suffolk is facing exceptionally dry conditions, with people being urged to use water carefully as hot weather continues.
Essex and Suffolk Water says there has been just three percent of average rainfall in July, reducing river flows and affecting reservoir levels.
Soil conditions are currently 129 percent drier than average, and the water company says that even when rain does arrive, it will take time for underground water sources to recharge.
Customers across the company's supply area are being asked to show restraint with their water use. Simple changes, such as swapping a hose for a watering can, can help reduce the amount of water being used.
Essex and Suffolk Water says water resources are always influenced by weather conditions. If the current hot and dry weather continues and demand remains exceptionally high, the company may need to consider further action to protect supplies, including a hosepipe ban.
