Arrest by Lowestoft Police with pit bike and e-scooters siezed

Lowestoft police have seized a pit bike and two privately owned e-scooters as officers continue to target unlawful and anti-social vehicle use.

On Wednesday 22nd July, Roads and Armed Policing Team officers spotted a white and orange pit bike being ridden without a registration plate displayed.

The motorcycle was later located at a community centre and was identified as being of interest to police. Officers deployed a Stinger at a suitable location to prevent the rider from making off. The rider stopped safely shortly afterwards, and no pursuit was required.

Police enquiries found the motorcycle was displaying an illegal registration plate and was already subject to an active Section 59 warning relating to anti-social use. The bike was subsequently seized and recovered.

The following day, officers attended an incident in Station Square involving a motorcycle and a police vehicle. No injuries were reported. The motorcycle was recovered and one person was arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the Station Square incident and has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch, quoting reference 37/43269/26.

Meanwhile, two privately owned e-scooters were stopped and seized in the High Street area during foot patrols. Police have reminded residents that privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be ridden on public roads, pavements or cycle paths, except within authorised trial areas.

Officers say they will continue targeting unlawful and anti-social use of motorcycles, mopeds, e-scooters and e-bikes.
