£120,000 grant awarded to help shape the future of Bungay Town Hall

Bungay Town Hall is set to benefit from a £120,000 National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to help plan the future of the historic building.

Bungay Town Council has secured the funding to develop detailed, costed proposals for the Grade II-listed Town Hall, looking at how it can be repaired, made more accessible and continue serving the community for years to come.

The project will begin with an architectural feasibility study and condition survey to assess the building and identify options for repairs, access improvements and changes that respect its historic character.

A second phase will examine how the Town Hall's spaces could be used in the future, including the development of a sustainable and financially realistic business case. The work will also consider how the building's heritage and museum collections can be shared more widely with residents and visitors.

Town Clerk Julie Bird said the funding would allow the council to properly assess the building's needs and ensure the plans reflect both its history and the town's future requirements.

Residents, local organisations and community partners will be invited to take part in consultations, engagement activities and pilot events, helping to shape proposals for the Town Hall's future.
