Some of East Suffolk’s best-known events are celebrating after being shortlisted for regional festival awards.
Organisers have confirmed that several local festivals have been nominated for the East Anglian Festival Network Awards, recognising events that bring communities together and boost local culture and tourism.
For the first time, both Lowestoft Pride and the Lowestoft Carnival have been nominated. The recognition marks a milestone for the town’s growing events calendar, with both celebrations attracting large crowds and strong community support. You can cast your vote here until the 31st January.
They are joined on the shortlist by others who include the Beccles Food and Drink Festival, which showcases local producers and businesses, as well as Lowestoft’s First Light Festival, known for its mix of arts, culture and seaside setting.
Halesworth’s INK Festival has also received a nomination, continuing its reputation for bringing writing, storytelling and performance to the town, along with SaxFest, Aldeburgh Carnival, Bungay's Black Shuck Festival, Framligham Gala Fest and Sizewell Vintage and Classic Vehicle Show.
The awards highlight the role festivals play in supporting local economies, attracting visitors and giving residents a reason to come together. Organisers say being nominated is a boost for volunteers, performers and everyone involved in putting the events together.
Winners will be announced later, but the nominations alone are being seen as a strong endorsement of East Suffolk’s events scene and its growing reputation across the region.
