Pleasurewood Hills unveils plans for four new rides in Lowestoft

Theme park bosses say the investment is “much-needed” as they look to boost visitor numbers and stay competitive.

A family theme park in Lowestoft has revealed plans to build four new amusement rides as part of a new investment programme.

Pleasurewood Hills has asked East Suffolk Council for planning permission to add four attractions at its Leisure Way site, including a 30-metre “thrill ride” and a big wheel.

The proposals follow the park’s sale to Premier Attraction Ltd, which bought Pleasurewood Hills from the Looping Group in October 2025. Park bosses say the new rides could increase visitor numbers and help the attraction remain competitive in the regional tourism and leisure market.

    What’s being proposed?

    • Star Flyer – a high-profile thrill ride around 30m tall
    • Spinning Coaster – a family-friendly ride around 12m tall
    • Apple Coaster – a smaller ride aimed at children
    • Big Wheel – a 36m tall wheel described as a “gentler experience”

    Why now?

In a planning statement, the new owners said they are committed to securing the park’s long-term future, with the latest application described as part of a wider strategy.

    Mixed reaction from residents

Another resident, from Great Yarmouth, supported the plans, saying the new owners appear to be investing in their first season and that reasonable investment in the leisure industry should be welcomed.

    What happens next?

The plans are now with East Suffolk Council. A decision is expected by 9 April 2026.
