Halifax has confirmed it will close its branch in Lowestoft later this year as part of a nationwide reduction in its high street presence.
The branch, located at 150 London Road North, is set to close its doors for the final time on 29th October.
The closure is part of a wider programme that will see 55 Halifax branches shut across the UK.
For hundreds of customers, the move means the loss of yet another face-to-face banking service in the town centre.
Halifax has not announced any immediate replacement for the branch, and customers who use in-person services will need to access alternative locations or use digital and telephone banking options. However, Lloyds Banking Group who own Halifax, say the town centre will have a Lloyds branch nearby for people to use.
The bank says the decision forms part of ongoing changes in the way customers manage their finances, with more people choosing to bank online or through mobile apps.
The closure is likely to be a concern for some residents, particularly those who prefer in-person banking or who rely on branch services for cash transactions and account support.
Further information about alternative banking options and support for customers affected by the closure is expected to be made available by Halifax ahead of the branch's final day of trading.
