Today east Suffolk marks the 80th anniversary of the Norman Landings - the largest seaborne invasion in history.
Throughout Thursday - 6th June - events to remember the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings will take place - including in Leiston and in Lowestoft, where the Sparrow's Nest Gardens will host live performances from 1500.
During the evening ‘lights of peace’ beacons will be lit at 2115 - including in North Cove, Dunwich, Sizewell an Lowestoft.
In Lowestoft, the UK most easterly beacon will be lit by Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk - Lady Clare, Countess of Euston.
This morning a Piper begins the commemorations at the UK's most easterly point - Ness Point, Lowestoft.
