People across east Suffolk are being urged to use water wisely with very warm weather expected this week.
The region's water supplier says demand has risen sharply, with an extra seven million litres of water a day needed between 1st and 8th July to keep up with consumption.
Essex and Suffolk Water says that's the equivalent of supplying another town the size of Lowestoft every day.
Engineers are continuing to move water around the network and repair burst pipes as quickly as possible to maintain supplies. However, customers are being asked to play their part by reducing unnecessary water use.
The appeal comes as temperatures are expected to rise again this week, increasing demand for water across the county.
The company says using less water where possible will help protect supplies and reduce the likelihood of a hosepipe ban becoming necessary.
Simple steps such as taking shorter showers, turning off taps while brushing teeth and avoiding unnecessary outdoor water use can all help reduce demand.
