Crowds gathered before 9am to be the first to walk over the brand new Gull Wing Bridge in Lowestoft.
The Gull Wing Bridge opened this morning, Saturday 7 September at 9am.
A queue formed early this morning as residents were keen to be the first to try out the much anticipated Gull Wing Bridge.
Those on foot are the first to try out the bridge, which has a full vehicle opening at midday.
Work on the long-awaited third crossing began in 2021. Although there have been delays along the way, it was a positive feeling this morning as crowds gathered to be the first to step on this new Suffolk icon.
With a price tag of just around £145 million, local businesses are hoping for a boost to the economy in East Suffolk.
