A cash machine has been stolen after thieves rammed the front of a building society in Beccles during the early hours.
Police were called at 2.50am today (Wednesday 4th March) to Nationwide Building Society in New Market following reports that an ATM had been ripped from the wall.
Officers say a telehandler was used to ram the front of the building before the cash machine was dragged from the premises and loaded into a dark-coloured van, possibly a Ford Transit.
Police units were immediately sent to the scene and carried out searches of the surrounding area, but the suspect vehicle was not located.
The telehandler is believed to have been stolen from a farm in Ringsfield and was later abandoned at the scene.
The incident has caused visible damage to the front of the building and prompted an overnight police response in the town centre.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses. Motorists who were driving in the area around the time of the incident and have dashcam footage are being urged to review it for anything that could help the investigation.
