Four cadets from Beccles and Lowestoft Sea Cadets have enjoyed a rare opportunity to visit the world-renowned polar research vessel, the RRS Sir David Attenborough.
During the visit, the cadets were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship, exploring areas including the bridge and its scientific facilities. They also learned about the work carried out by researchers operating in the challenging conditions of Antarctica.
The Sea Cadets described the trip as an unforgettable experience, saying it gave those taking part a unique insight into the vessel's role in scientific surveying and polar exploration.
The unit said it was proud of how the cadets represented Beccles and Lowestoft, adding that opportunities like this are a key part of what Sea Cadets offers young people.
Following the visit, the organisation is encouraging more teenagers to get involved by joining its Royal Marines Cadets. Open to young people aged 13 and over, the programme offers fieldcraft, adventure training, navigation, teamwork and leadership opportunities.
