Water bills in East Suffolk are set to rise but not by as much as the water companies had wanted.
Essex and Suffolk Water will be allowed to increase its rates by £45 over the next 5 years. For Anglian water customers that figure is £66.
The Government plans make sure the money is ring-fenced for improvements and investment and not used for dividends or salaries.
Water companies have faced scrutiny over the amount of raw sewage allowed to enter Britain's waterways and will need to reduce spills by 44% from 2021 levels or face automatic fines.
The water companies will have until the end of the year to challenge the increases.which are a third less than was asked for.
