The new school is on the site of the former SET Saxmundham School in Seaman Avenue
Plans to open a new special school in Saxmundham have been given the green light.
The 126-place school will be located on Seaman Avenue and will provide specialist education for children aged between three and 16 years old who have severe learning difficulties.
The new school is designed to help meet increasing demand for specialist educational provision in the area, offering tailored facilities and support to meet pupils’ complex needs.
Once open, the school will serve families across the local area, reducing the need for some children to travel further afield to access appropriate education.
Further details about construction timescales, staffing and opening dates are expected to be confirmed in due course.
The approval marks a significant step forward in expanding specialist education provision in East Suffolk and supporting children with additional learning needs closer to home.
