A man has been rescued from the sea off South Beach in Lowestoft after getting into difficulty shortly after midnight on Saturday - 26th July.
According to a post by Lowestoft RNLI on social media, volunteer lifeboat crews were called out at around 12.30am and quickly located the man in the water. He was safely brought back to shore and taken to the lifeboat station.
Ambulance crews were waiting and took over his care. The man was described as cold and wet, but no further details about his condition have been shared.
The RNLI’s swift response has been praised locally. The circumstances of how the man came to be in the sea have not been confirmed, but there is no suggestion anyone else was involved.
The RNLI continues to urge people to take care near open water and to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard in an emergency.
There was no disruption to the surrounding area, and the situation was handled entirely by emergency services at the scene.
