A man has died following a serious marine collision at Oulton Broad.
Tributes are being paid to Brett Duncan, a well-known figure in the powerboating community, who has died following a crash during a race at Oulton Broad.
The 51-year-old was taking part in an event at the Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club on Thursday 24 July when his boat collided with a stationary houseboat near the watersports centre. He sustained serious injuries in what organisers described as a “lone racing accident.”
Despite the efforts of emergency crews who responded swiftly, Mr Duncan later died.
In a statement, the Circuit Powerboat Association said:
“We are shocked and saddened by Brett’s untimely passing. He was an experienced and popular member of the power boating community, and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this tragic time.”
The Association also thanked event staff and emergency services for their quick response, adding that no further details will be released while investigations continue.
Police are working closely with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch to understand the circumstances of the crash.
