An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a reported rape in Lowestoft in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police say the incident began shortly after midnight on Sunday (5th April), when a woman in her 20s and a friend got into a taxi outside the Blues public house. An unknown man is reported to have entered the vehicle at the same time.
After arriving at The Volunteer public house on London Road North, the woman and the man both got out of the taxi and walked towards Milton Road East.
It is reported the man then led the woman into an alleyway near the junction of Arnold Street, where she was sexually assaulted. The suspect is said to have then run off along London Road North before turning into Gordon Road.
The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.
Police have since arrested an 18-year-old man from Lowestoft on suspicion of rape. He has been taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
A police cordon remains in place, and residents can expect an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage from the time of the incident to come forward.
