Two East Suffolk town councils are celebrating after being shortlisted in the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Star Council Awards 2025/26.
Leiston Town Council has announced that its Mayor, Councillor Lesley Hill, has been named a finalist. The awards recognise outstanding work by councillors and councils across England, and the council says it is delighted to see the Mayor’s contribution acknowledged at national level.
Saxmundham Town Council has also earned national recognition, being shortlisted in the Council of the Year category. The award highlights councils that demonstrate strong leadership, community engagement and effective local projects.
Both councils have expressed pride in being shortlisted and say the recognition reflects the efforts of councillors, staff and volunteers who work to support residents and deliver local improvements.
The Star Council Awards will culminate in a parliamentary reception at the House of Lords on 24th February 2026, where winners will be announced and celebrated. This event is more than an awards night. It celebrates the power of local governance and community spirit. It's an opportunity to network, share success stories, and inspire others.
