Lowestoft Town Council has launched Your Community Hall of Fame — a special tribute to the people of Lowestoft, past and present, who have made a lasting impact on the town and its community.
Part of the restoration of the Grade II listed Town Hall, the new feature will celebrate individuals whose stories reflect the spirit, resilience, and character of Lowestoft — from everyday acts of kindness to extraordinary achievements.
Residents are invited to take part by nominating or voting for someone they feel deserves recognition.
The easy-to-use online form, available via the Town Council’s website, allows locals to share the names and stories of those who have helped shape the town’s identity.
A Town Council spokesperson said: “This initiative is a great way for local people to get involved with creating a timeless celebration of people from Lowestoft in the Town Hall when it reopens.
When people think of Lowestoft, we often think of Benjamin Britten, Dorothy Dallimer and Tom Crisp, but we know there are many people living in Lowestoft today who should be celebrated.”
Whether it’s a family member, neighbour, teacher or community figure, residents are encouraged to put forward anyone whose contribution deserves to be remembered.
The final display will form part of the refurbished Town Hall when it reopens.
Nominations and votes close on 28th November.
To take part, visit the Your Community Hall of Fame page on the Lowestoft Town Council website.
