A 127-year-old Beccles ice cream company has been rescued just weeks after announcing its closure.
Parravani’s Ice Cream, a well-known Suffolk brand, went into voluntary liquidation in October after more than a century of trading. The company had produced ice cream and desserts enjoyed across East Anglia for generations.
However, the brand has now been saved by Leicester-based firm Best Budz, which has bought the Parravani name and confirmed production will continue — but from new premises in Leicester.
While the move means ice cream will no longer be made in Beccles, Best Budz has said one former Parravani’s employee will continue to represent the business in the East of England, helping maintain local links and drive sales across the region.
Parravani’s Ice Cream began trading in 1897, building a reputation for traditional recipes and family-run values. Its closure last month came as a shock to many local customers and businesses who had stocked its products.
The rescue deal offers hope that the historic brand — and its loyal following — will continue, even as production shifts out of Suffolk.
