It may only be January, but plans are already under way for Christmas lights and festive displays in 2026 — and residents are being asked to have their say.
The Town Council has launched a public survey to gather ideas on how Christmas lights and illuminations could be improved in the town centre. The aim is to make the area more welcoming and vibrant during the festive season, while also supporting local businesses and attracting visitors.
Residents are being invited to suggest what they would like to see in future displays. This could include a completely new lighting scheme, different styles or themes, new locations, or additional features that would enhance the look and feel of the town at Christmas.
The council is also asking people to think more broadly about how festive installations could be used throughout the year. This includes ideas such as adapting structures for other events, or incorporating elements like flags or bunting that could be reused beyond the Christmas period.
Feedback from the survey will be used to help shape decisions on future investment and design, ensuring the final plans reflect what local people want to see in their town centre.
Residents can take part by completing the online survey, and further suggestions can also be submitted by email or by commenting directly to the council. The council says every response will help guide planning for Christmas 2026 and beyond.
