The lifeboat was called at around 11 o’clock on Christmas morning - after reports that someone had disappeared off the coast near the South Pier at Lowestoft. The swimmer was found safe and well later and on Battery Green Road, after he had been taken by the tide - but had managed to get ashore near Sembmarine SLP at Hamilton Dock.
