Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed into the front of a shop in Beccles town centre, causing significant damage.
Officers were called to Smallgate after reports that a silver BMW 325 had collided with the front of the New Look store. The impact caused serious damage to the building, prompting structural engineers to attend and assess its safety.
Police say the driver of the car left the scene following the collision on Tuesday (16th December) evening. Enquiries are ongoing to establish who was driving the vehicle at the time, and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have information.
Witnesses in the area at the time of the incident are urged to come forward. Police are also asking motorists who were driving through Beccles town centre, particularly around Smallgate, to check any dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lowestoft Response Investigation Team, quoting reference SC-16122025-284. Reports can be made via the Suffolk Constabulary website, by calling 101, or by emailing the investigating officer.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers.
Police say the appeal is important to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and to identify the person responsible.
