Tributes have been pouring in after the death of Lowestoft teenager Skye Read, who suffered a cardiac arrest at her home.
Emergency services were called to a property in the town following reports that a patient was in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of all involved, the 15-year-old sadly died at the scene. Suffolk Police have been reported to say the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Skye was a Year 10 pupil at East Point Academy on Kirkley Run. Staff informed pupils at the start of the week, with parents and carers later receiving a letter from the school’s principal. The academy said it was “deeply affected” by the loss and is being supported by Suffolk’s Critical Incident Team.
Messages of condolence have been shared widely, with friends, parents and relatives remembering Skye as caring, funny and popular.
Skye is understood to have been involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and is being remembered as someone who touched the hearts of many in the community.
A fundraising page set up by a family friend aims to support the family and help provide “the most fantastic send-off”. By Sunday evening (7th December), donations had already exceeded £6,000.
The page describes Skye as “the most caring, funny, cleverest girl” and says her loss has left a deep impact on all who knew her.
