Have Your Say on New Store Coming to Halesworth

A new Lidl supermarket is set to open in Halesworth, marking the discount retailer’s first store in the town and bringing around 40 jobs.

The store will be built on Norwich Road, on the site of a former car garage secured by the company earlier this year.

Lidl, recently named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by Which?, says the development will deliver a “new, modern store” for the community.

Plans include an in-store bakery, the well-known “Middle of Lidl” aisles, and a range of parking improvements. These will feature two rapid electric vehicle charging bays, covered cycle parking, as well as accessible and parent-and-child spaces.

The project is part of Lidl’s wider expansion programme across East Anglia, as the retailer continues to grow its presence in towns not currently served by one of its stores.

A Lidl spokesperson said the new supermarket would bring more choice to local shoppers, while also supporting the town with new jobs and sustainable travel options.

The opening date has not yet been confirmed, but progress on the site is expected soon.
