First Light Festival CIC has been appointed as the cultural operator for Lowestoft’s planned new Cultural Hub.
The organisation, best known for delivering the annual midsummer festival on Lowestoft beach, will take on responsibility for shaping the creative vision and programming of the new town centre venue.
First Light says it plans to bring its multi-arts approach into the heart of Lowestoft, creating an accessible space where residents and visitors can take part in a wide range of cultural activities. The aim is to encourage participation, strengthen community engagement and support the town’s growing cultural identity.
The Cultural Hub is intended to complement Lowestoft’s existing venues, including The Marina Theatre, The Seagull Theatre and The Players Theatre. Organisers say it will create new opportunities for collaboration and creative development, while also helping to increase footfall and support the evening and night-time economy.
East Suffolk Council has confirmed that LSI Architects, Morgan Sindall Construction and Greyfriars Project Management have been appointed as key delivery partners for the scheme.
Updated plans for the Cultural Hub are expected to be shared in the coming months as part of further community engagement, with additional announcements anticipated as the project progresses.
The development forms part of wider ambitions to strengthen Lowestoft’s Cultural Quarter and place creativity at the centre of the town’s future regeneration.
