East Coast Truckers Charity Convoy Rolls In

The East Coast Truckers Children’s Charity is continuing its mission to bring joy and unforgettable experiences to disadvantaged children across the region.

On Sunday (24th August) hundreds of children joined the long convoy of trucks rolled long Suffolk's roads, as they visited Pleasurewood Hills near Lowestoft.

Founded in 1986, the charity began when local truckers came together to support children with special needs by offering them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to ride in a lorry cab. That first initiative grew into the spectacular annual convoy — now featuring more than 100 vehicles.

Since becoming a registered charity in 2000, East Coast Truckers has expanded its work to include trips to the Hippodrome Circus, Banham Zoo, and annual Christmas parties.

Thanks to fundraising and generous donations, the charity also provides families with free week-long breaks at holiday homes in Scratby near Great Yarmouth.

With over 100 members volunteering their time, the charity continues to thrive — creating happy memories for children and their families year after year.
