A shop in Beccles town centre has been left seriously damaged after a car crashed into the building, sparking concern among local residents and businesses.
The incident involved a vehicle ploughing into the New Look store, causing what witnesses have described as significant structural damage. At this stage, there have been no reports of anyone being injured.
People in the area say the car was seen travelling at dangerous speeds through the town centre shortly before the crash, including along Peddars Lane. Emergency services attended the scene, and parts of the town centre were affected as a result of the incident.
There are concerns locally that the level of damage could mean the shop remains closed for some time, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Suffolk Police have been contacted for further information and confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the crash, including how it happened and whether any arrests have been made.
Residents are being advised to expect disruption in the town centre while assessments continue and the scene is made safe. Further updates are expected once police release more details.
