A well-known bike shop in Beccles has announced changes to its operation after being targeted by repeated break-ins.
Pedalz says it experienced its fifth break-in at the end of January, followed by another incident more recently. As a result, the business has decided to close its upstairs retail area — which includes clothing, helmets and accessories — until further notice.
The company says all stock, including bikes, will now be securely stored off-site. Customers wishing to view or purchase items are being asked to contact the shop in advance so arrangements can be made.
Despite the disruption, Pedalz has confirmed that its workshop, repairs and opening hours remain unchanged, although its phone line is currently being repaired and customers are encouraged to get in touch via email.
In a statement, the business said the decision had been made after ongoing challenges linked to crime and security, despite significant investment in protective measures.
The team also thanked customers for their continued support, describing the past period as “incredibly tough,” but said they remain committed to the future and are planning changes to move the business forward.
Pedalz says it will continue to update customers as plans develop in the coming months.
