The Art Station is proud to present LAND, a bold and expansive group exhibition showcasing the work of 27 contemporary artists, each engaging with the dynamic and often complex relationship between humans and the natural world. From the reflective to the humorous, from optimism to confrontation, LAND offers a powerful artistic response to the environment through an array of innovative practices.

Curated by Clare Palmier, Director of The Art Station, this multi-site exhibition features a rich mix of media including painting, drawing, video, installation, sound and performance displayed across three unique venues in Suffolk as well as The Old Bank Riverside Garden.

LAND will inhabit The Art Station’s two distinct buildings on Saxmundham High Street: a reimagined 1950s telephone exchange at number 48, and a former period bank at number 24. Meanwhile, LAND 2, a companion exhibition, will take over Framlingham’s atmospheric Old Theatre, an early 20th-century assembly hall, from 23 August to 20 September.

    Featured artists include:
Aileen Kelly, Alexander Costello, Barbara Nicholls, Emily Richardson, Gary Hume, Graham Crowley, Helen Rousseau, Jane Morter, Jane Watt, Jevan Watkins Jones, Johann Don Daniel, Kristina Tonev, Lee Grandjean, Les Bicknell, Liz Waugh, Mahal de Man, Maria Prowkoska, Mark Darbyshire, Matt Hale, Neil Hanger, Noriko Okaku, Rebecca Riess, Richard Oliver, Sally Hampson, Susan Barnet, Susan Kester, Telfer Stokes, and Zoe Benbow.

In addition to the exhibitions, a programme of related events, workshops, performances, and educational activities will run throughout the summer, further deepening engagement with the themes of land and the environment.

LAND is part of The Art Station’s mission to support and promote contemporary art in rural Suffolk through ambitious free Arts and Learning programme.
