A Flood Alert has been issued for the River Waveney, affecting Bungay, Beccles, Oulton Broad and Somerleyton.
The Environment Agency says flooding is possible in low-lying areas along the river. Flood alerts are typically issued between two and twelve hours before flooding is expected - and is possible from 8pm on 16th February 2026 for the next few days.
Residents and landowners in affected locations are being advised to prepare. This includes having insurance documents and essential medications ready, and moving livestock and farming equipment away from areas likely to flood. People are also urged not to walk, cycle or drive through flood water.
If a property is flooded or at risk, householders should isolate electrics if it is safe to do so and consider moving possessions upstairs. Avoid contact with flood water wherever possible due to the risk of injury or infection.
Residents are encouraged to check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and ensure they know what to do if flooding occurs. If necessary, secure your property and move to a place of safety.
Drivers are warned not to attempt to drive through flood water and to avoid unnecessary journeys, as surrounding roads may also be affected.
