The James Paget University Hospital remains very busy and is asking people not to attend its Emergency Department unless they have a genuine emergency.
Examples include chest pain, severe shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain, loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding, suspected broken bones, deep wounds, drug overdoses and signs of a stroke.
People who are unsure where to seek treatment are being advised to contact NHS 111 by calling 111 or using the NHS website, where they can be directed to the most appropriate service.
The hospital says patients attending A&E may face a wait because those with potentially life-threatening conditions or injuries will be prioritised. The Trust has previously reported significant increases in demand for urgent and emergency care.
